When should I register with ICAI if I plan to join the 15 October batch?

As soon as possible. ICAI sends the study material after you register, and it can take 2 to 3 weeks to reach you. We use the ICAI study material in class, and having it in hand from the first day helps you follow the lessons from the start. If you register now, the books can reach you before classes begin on 15 October.

What is the last date to register with ICAI for the May 2027 exam?

ICAI needs Foundation students to be registered for at least 4 months, counted up to the 1st day of the exam month. For the May 2027 exam, the last date is 1 January 2027. For the September 2027 exam, it is 1 May 2027. ICAI announces each date on icai.org, so check it before you plan. Do not wait for the last date. A student who registers in late December will not have the study material for most of the classes.

Is 4 months of coaching enough for CA Foundation?

For most students, yes. A 4-month coaching batch covers all four papers. If classes end in mid-February, you have about 10 weeks before a May exam, which is more than the 4 to 6 weeks of revision most students need. Should a Class 12 student aim for May 2027 or September 2027?

It depends on your board exams and how you handle pressure. Board exams usually run in February and March, which is the same time as Foundation revision for a May exam. If you want the boards out of the way first, September 2027 is the calmer choice. If you study steadily and your school timetable is manageable, May 2027 is realistic. The 15 October batch suits both.

Do I need a Commerce background to join the October batch?

No. CA Foundation is open after Class 12 in any stream. Accounting is taught from the basics in the first month, so you do not need to have studied it in school.

What if I cannot join on 15 October?

Speak to us before you decide. The first weeks build the base for Accounting, and later chapters depend on it, so a late start needs extra catch-up effort. If May 2027 becomes too tight, the September 2027 attempt gives you more room, and we can tell you what is available.

Is It Too Late to Join CA Foundation for the May 2027 Attempt?

The short version: No. The batch starts on 15 October 2026 and runs for about 4 months, so classes end in mid-February. That leaves about 10 weeks before a May exam. To make it work, register with ICAI now. The study material can take 2 to 3 weeks to reach you, and you will follow the classes better if you have it from the first day. ICAI's last date for the May exam is 1 January 2027. It is tight for Class 12 students whose board exams fall in the same months. For them, the September 2027 attempt is the safer target.

Register With ICAI Now, Before Classes Start

This is the one step that cannot wait. ICAI sends the study material only after you register, and the books can take 2 to 3 weeks to reach you. In our classes we teach from the ICAI study material. A student who has the books in hand on the first day can read ahead and follow each lesson as it happens. A student who does not have them has to catch up later.

The batch starts on 15 October, so registering this week is the safest way to get the books in time. Registration is done online on the ICAI Self-Service Portal (eservices.icai.org) after you pass Class 10.

ICAI's own last date is much later: 1 January 2027 for the May exam. That date is the limit, not the target. If you register that late, you will not have the study material for most of the classes.

The Timeline From Now to May

Here is how the months work out for a student who joins the 15 October 2026 batch.

Now: Register with ICAI. The study material can take 2 to 3 weeks to reach you.
15 October 2026: The batch starts. Classes run Tuesday to Sunday, with Monday off.
By 1 January 2027: This is ICAI's last date to register for the May exam. ICAI needs at least 4 months of registration, counted up to the 1st day of the exam month. The exact date is on icai.org.
Mid-February 2027: Coaching finishes after about 4 months.
Mid-February to April 2027: Revision and full-syllabus mock exams. This is about 10 weeks, more than the 4 to 6 weeks most students need.
May 2027: The exam. ICAI publishes the exact dates on icai.org, usually 3 to 4 months in advance.

When It Is Too Late for May

There are two situations where May 2027 stops being realistic.

You register after the ICAI last date. If you register after 1 January 2027, you cannot sit the May exam. Your first attempt moves to September. Do your registration early and do not leave it for later.

You start with too little time left. A student who begins coaching with only 6 weeks to go does not have enough time to cover all four papers and then revise them. If you are thinking of joining after 15 October, speak to us first. The first weeks build the base for Accounting, and later chapters depend on it.

If You Are in Class 12 Right Now

Board exams usually run in February and March. That is the same time coaching ends and revision starts for a May exam. Preparing for boards and Foundation revision together is hard, and this is the main risk for Class 12 students.

The batch timings are made for school-going students: 4 to 7 PM from Tuesday to Friday, and 2 to 7 PM on Saturday and Sunday. So starting in October is realistic. What you choose is the exam target.

Four Questions to Ask Before You Decide

Can you register with ICAI this week, so the study material reaches you before 15 October?
Do the batch timings (4 PM on weekdays, 2 PM on weekends) work with your school or college schedule?
Can you give 3 to 4 hours of self-study each day on top of classes?
Do your board exams or other commitments clash with February to April?

If the answer is yes to the first three and no to the last one, May 2027 is realistic. If any of these goes the other way, September 2027 gives you more room.
